Hershey’s modified their 1.55 ounce chocolate bar wrapper as a security measure to reduce the risk of tampering. We have provided three suggestions for wrapping the chocolate bars with candy bar wrappers. Which method you select is really just a matter of personal preference. Never remove the original wrapper or apply adhesive over the nutritional data label. Double-sided tape or professional glue sticks work best for adhering the new wrapper. All you’d need is some gloss cover paper, glue stick and scissors (or paper cutter).
The “Standard Wrap” uses the original-sized wrapper to cover the printed portion of the Hershey’s wrapping, allowing the sealed crimped edges to show from the sides. You can modify this method by folding under and taping the sealed edges. Then just wrap your personalized printed candy wrapper over the candy bar. This is the least time-consuming and economical method, but still provides a very nice result.
The “Full Wrap” extends your printed wrapper entirely over the sealed edges of the Hershey’s wrapping. It will look like the flat crimped edges of the original Hershey’s bar. One nice benefit of using this method is that decorative edging can be added using decorative edge scissors.
Just add a border of about an inch to the right and left sides of the printed wrapper. Leaving the border white creates a “crisper” finish, or you can use a solid color for the border. The trick to applying the wrapper is to position the front of the wrapper over the chocolate bar, then fold the top over and tape into place. Use a glue stick to glue the extra border together right up to the edge of the candy bar. Press the border to flatten it. Let the glue dry completely (the paper cuts nicer when dry), the trim with scissors or use decorative edge scissors to add a patterned edge.
The “Traditional Wrap” is the method used to create the foiled-edge candy wrapper. This is created by first encasing the entire Hershey’s wrapping in foil (after folding under and taping the sealed crimped edges of the candy bar). Then you’ll add your personalized printed candy wrapper over the foil. If you will only be wrapping a few chocolate bars, you can use lightweight aluminum foil. Otherwise you should use lightweight Confectioner’s or Confectionery Foil. This is the most labor-intensive method, but it provides the nicest finished favor. So enlist the help of a few friends if you are making 50 or more of these types of favors
